Sierra Chart Update Notice

Please update to the current version

Make sure your Forgiving Computer custom studies don’t break.

At version 2969 Sierra Chart has updated its internal structures to use Double precision data types (64-bit) instead of the Float data types, which use the old 32-bit numbers. This change required a rebuild of all custom studies. All of the Forgiving Computer custom studies have been rebuilt successfully, and they function the same as before.

If you are on a version below 2969, then you may encounter the error: “This custom study xxxxx.dll required version 2969 or higher.” To make the studies work again, you will need to update Sierra Chart to 2969 or the current version, which is 2975.  (You will notice that the version number in the Add Custom Studies window will be 2969.)

If you have issues with other studies and need to revert to an earlier version of Sierra Chart, you may need to wait for the other developers to rebuild their studies. Please let me know which if any of the the FC studies need to support an earlier version by sending me the Study Name and version number required, and I will create a DLL that is compatible.

Due to an error in the build process you may see DLLs in your Data folder that have version numbers in the file name.

For example: FC_Study_2971_64.dll

These files are duplicates of the standard DLLs and they are small. They will not interfere with your charts. However, it is recommended that you do not add them to your charts, as they will not get updated. If you want to remove them, the easiest way is to exit Sierra Chart and delete any DLLs in the c:\sierrachart\data folder with the numbers in the name. You can also delete all DLLs and they will automatically get downloaded on restart.

Please let me know if you have any other issues with the new versions.
